Notes About The Poem

God-given gifts and talents are meant to be used wisely, and not for selfish or evil ends and purposes...

Have I Used My Gift For Gain

Have I used my gift for gain, O Dear Lord,
     and fattened myself with dishonest wealth?
Have I sought wicked vengeance through the sword,
     and schemed against my wanton neighbor's health?

But, like a son, I have been obedient;
     and have not gone against, nor forsaken,
the law or your most heavenly commandment:
     instead, all of your talents awaken

Creation through my written lines, the rhyme.
     What you have endowed me with, I employ
and use with care to make the most of time,
     to spread and multiply on earth your joy.

Whilst some souls aspire to vengeance and greed,
let my rhyme's good will instead grow and breed!
