Haunting My Thoughts

Even though you are gone,
You are no longer with me,
You and I are over
And I'm trying to forget you.
But you are still on my mind.
You come back into my thoughts,
When I think you are gone,
You pop into my head,
An occasional thought,
Because I fear you will come back,
You will try to win my heart again,
And I fear I will fall for your tricks,
And become your "loving fool",
I know in my heart,
That I cannot let you hurt me,
I cannot let you haunt me,
Haunting me and my deep thoughts.
No matter how much I loved you,
No matter the sweet memories you gave to me.
You can no longer mean anything to me.
Those memories cannot burden me,
I won't let you haunt me,
Or haunt my thoughts...
