*******************************************************************************
Jay’s older brothers used to torture him.
They’d say, “Let’s have a harmless bit of fun”~~
then tell him tales about a red-eyed ghost.
Poor little Jay would tremble, scream, and run.
The plots they wove grew scarier with time.
They bragged about their creativity.
They didn’t know what Jay had known for years:
there WAS a ghost that only he could see.
It hovered in the woods behind their house
and peered at Jay, who often played outside
alone at dusk, or in his room at night
and looking out his window. “Stop!” he cried.
He wished the ghost would haunt his mean old brothers
instead of him, and then those glowing eyes,
he saw no more. His brothers changed! They were
subdued and nice to him, to his surprise.
