Harvest Time

Summer season has wrapped up
on the southern prairie plain
the multi-patchwork of fields
ready for upcoming harvest
heads of golden yellow
wheat, rye and barley
glow in the amber sun
the wind creates flowing
waves with the hearty stalks
while birds and deer
find a very easy feast
the rains are not wanted
as the threshing begins
dryness is the key
to get the best yield
of the farming season.

Hello Phyllis … when I lived in Sunraysia I did enjoy driving out to the Mallee to watch the wheat wave like an endless rain, yes, and rain was the bane of the harvest - thank you Phyllis - Lindsay

Thanks Lindsay. Harvest is fully on it's way. Nice summer days to get it off. Starting to get cooler nights now so means fall is just around the corner. Have a nice week. love phyl
