Harsh Winter Horrors

Winter comes and winter goes but all the cold you can't deny.
The nights you sit in a cold dark room just freezing and wondering why.

Don't open the door or the wind will rush in and blow more snow on the floor.
If this happens then you know there will be havoc as you hear the wind roar.

The nights are so long and after a while you think they will never end.
We just wrap ourselves in a blanket and try to snuggle and keep warm, my friend.

Dreams of summertime flood our minds, and we try to think of warm weather.
Telling stories each night of our struggles and strife, but at least we're together.

If we can survive and we're still alive, when springtime finally arrives.
We'll wait for the summer and hope it's much warmer and then we'll thaw out our hives!!

So very true Marty.. I did not have heat in my house for three whole days and now know how the homeless folks feel every day of their lives... it is bitter here in N.J. and your poem states everything Winter brings and more.. Congrats on your first place win in the Anything Goes contest posted on Constance's blog today..great poem and great win.. enjoyed... blessings.. luv... Linda-Marie

As I read this, I am sitting at my lap-top in the kitchen looking out the patio door at the ice and snow and leaving for the south tomorrow. You paint an-all-to realistic picture with this one Marty. Keep warm. Lainie
