Hardened Teardrops

There is a sting to winter’s kiss
cold memory reignited
a vision through watery eyes
a mirage of moments blighted

weary tracks of empty snowshoes
thinning lines on crest of hill
swallowed by a cloudless sky
the stinging bite of winter’s chill

crystal tracks of hardened teardrops
frozen on love’s time numbed cheeks
wait in silence as they listen
as love’s windblown distance speaks

The imagery in this blew me across the frozen pond and over the snowbank.

Well, John, you have a new fan. I written several poems about tears. This is very moving. Superb, subtle imagery. Keep that pen going! Sally

The sting... the blurry-eyed vision... the hardened teardrops. Resonates totally with me, John. Thanks, gw
