Hard To Be An Eagle

THE BIRDS ARE QUITE A SIGHT TO SEE IT TELLS YOU MANY THINGS
OF HOW THE WEATHERS COMING AND WHAT THE SEASON BRINGS
BUT THE BIRD I WANT TO TALK ABOUT IS HIGH ABOVE THE REST
AND IT'S HARD TO BE AN EAGLE WHEN YOUR IN A TURKEY'S NEST

AN EAGLE IS A MAGNIFICENT BIRD WITH A VERY LARGE WINGSPAN
AND WITH HIS SHARPENED EYESIGHT HE SEE'S MILES ACROSS THE LAND
HE REPRESENTS OUR FREEDOM AS HE SOARS ABOVE THE REST
AND IT'S HARD TO BE AN EAGLE WHEN YOUR IN A TURKEY'S NEST

THE TURKEY IS A DUMB BIRD THAT WILL FOLLOW YOU AROUND
THEN RUN AWAY SO QUICKLY AT EVERY NOISEY SOUND
THEY PECK AWAY AT BRIGHT THINGS AND AT EACH OTHER TOO
THEY NEVER KNOW WHICH WAY TO GO OR WHAT THEY WANT TO DO

THEY ARE HAPPY WITH JUST BEING HUDDLED WITH THE REST
IT SO HARD TO BE AN EAGLE WHEN YOUR IN A TURKEY'S NEST
BUT I KNOW THAT GOD HAS CALLED ME AND HE'S PUT ME TO THE TEST
AND IT'S HARD TO BE A TURKEY WHEN YOUR IN AN EAGLES NEST.

Beautiful metaphoric write. Love the meaning behind the write. Glad that you chose this topic for it made my day. Keep the magical pen flowing. Sara

very perceptive verse...perhaps lower case would be easier on the eye? CAPS are usually used to indicate "screaming?" We are all part eagle & part turkey LOL Light & Love

Thank you for your comments, The Lord woke me up at 5 am on a Sunday and gave me this poem..My grandaugter had stayed with me the weekend. At grandma's if you spend the weekend you have to go to church on Sunday. after gettin the poem I went back to bed.I got up an hour later and went in the kitchen and heard my grandaughter on the phone saying" please mom come and get me, I don't want to go to church". I would have been upset before, but knew what God was talking about.

I relate to your poem very much Sandra. Simply cute and witty at the same time. I relate this way, being in a Turkey's nest, is equivalent, to living as christian(Eagle) life in the earth(TurkeyNest) among Turkeys. Be you in the world but not of the world. Beautiful sentiments. Fine job, I look forward to reading your witty writes. Welcome to soup. Sincerely, Love, Moses
