Harbor Prayer
Upon the dock at eventide
The setting sun is at my side
I gaze across the harbor calm
The cries of seagulls like a psalm
My spirits brim with sea and sand
As feelings I don’t understand
Like sea foam, set my soul adrift
Yet not a single sand grain sift
On golden waters, memory floats
In rafts of otters, buoys, boats
And reflections of this day and year
As the end of both draws near
I breathe a sigh of salty air
And bow my head in silent prayer
To ask that I, like this harbor calm
Find peace and strength to carry on.
