Happy Place

The shore stretches wide beneath a painted sky,
Where gulls trace circles as the hours drift by.
Waves roll in with a patient sound,
A steady heartbeat the earth has found.
Warm sand cushions each wandering step,
Holding stories the tides have kept.
Footprints linger, then slip away,
Carried off by the edge of the bay.
The breeze tastes faintly of salt and sun,
Of distant places and journeys begun.
It tangles softly in sunlit hair,
A quiet reminder that freedom lives there.
The horizon hums in a hazy line,
Where sea and sky in silence combine.
A place unbroken, both wild and calm,
A restless pulse and a healing balm.
And as the daylight melts to gold,
The ocean whispers, ancient and old—
Of time that ebbs, of tides that stay,
And all we lose, then find, by the way.
