Happy Fourth You All
In case you didn't know
We celebrate today
- the day of Independence
"the day that the Lord hath made"
the day that America's sons and daughters
had fought a war and won
the day that we are no longer under British's control
or is it England?
the day that we became a nation
the day that we declared "all men are created equal,
that they are endowed with certain unalienable Rights,
and among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness" (Declaration of Independence July 4th, 1776)
the day that we sing a National Anthem
and know that yes we have come far and still has more to go
the day that our sons and daughters are still fighting
a war - a war to maintain life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness
They are now in foreign lands maintaining the peace
so that we can enjoy our peace here at home
the day that no one should say "I have it" and forget
that it belongs to the Creator
- a day that we no longer have
as we give it all to the Lord
God, help us to celebrate this day
and never forget that in you we have our celebrations
In you we have our moments of triumph
In you that we have peace
joy, and whatever that comes with it
In you that the men and women of America has not fought in vain
In you that we finally see the light
that unless You made it
all would be for naught
Yeah God You made it
so we can enjoy it
Yeah with barbecues and all the trimmings
with friends and family milling all around
with Hobo and Scarlet at your side
Yeah this is the day
where I stuff myself
and go on a diet tomorrow
Yeah this is the day :)
