Happy Birthday, Mom

My Mother is way long gone.... But I wish I could hug her and sing her a song. As her birthday this year is on Mother's Day. And we cannot blow out the candles this May! I have written about Irene before. A most fitting name for a woman who wanted peace forevermore. She lives is God's golden city, And, knowing her, making it extraordinarily pretty. Have a room ready for me, Mom, when I come home. So that on the stars and Milky Way, we shall forever roam. Your daughter...Panagiota              May 10, 2020               2pm  PST

Krish, how nice of you to comment. I never dreamt this would be a POTD! It's a real gift to receive one. I always try to respond. I don't get it when a poet gets one, receives well wishes from other poets, and will not acknowledge comments. Rude to the max. You are not like that, thank goodness.))) Panagiota xoxo

Congratulations on your POTD win. A beautiful poem for a beautiful mother on her birthday and on mother's day. I love where you say, "She lives is God's golden city," What a city that must be. Enjoy your win and day......

Hello Brandy~ thanks for being a poetess-friend.your comment is so lovely I do not know where to begin. I never expected this simple poem to be a POTD. They are always a gift. Then, I get to ferret out those who do support me and have my back from those who do not. A POTD is like a birthday party. Not everybody will celebrate with you, those who care, do. I will agree with you. "beautiful and tender" at the same time...just like you! Thank you Panagiota xoxo

John, ah, I do thank you. Sure, I could have written any poem but this. But she is the one who gave me life. And, believed in me no matter what. It's no masterpiece for sure but it was not written to be one. My Mother was the masterpiece, not me. Appreciate your touching comment. Panagiota xoxo Panagiota.xoxo

Hello Silent One~ One feels like an orphan when both parents are gone. That is how it was for me. The grief process was longer than I expected. But when you are a caregiver to your parent, the loss is even greater. Glad I had the chance to care for Mom! Enjoy your Mum as much as you can now! I can't wait to see her again. Thanks for your comment and soupmails Huggs, Panagiota xxoo

I am just me. And that is all I ever wanted~ to find my own voice as a poet and not impress anyone. Thank you for FAVING. Love and be loved, Panagiota xxoo

This tribute to your loving mother is very touching Panagiota. My mother visited me last night, I mean I could feel her presence. She has been gone since 1994, but sometimes she returns on a special day like Mother's Day. I loved your sweet poem. Blessings xxoo

Connie, how lucky you are to have such a spiritual experience. My Mother died close to the same year. I have never seen such a beautiful transformation from life to death. She looked younger, her body was almost glowing with a golden light. It was a stunning experience. Panagiota xxoo

Panagiota, A poem that proves how devotion remains eternal when all you have are good memories. We forget all the rest of the past. And love reigns supreme. Happy Mother's day Panagiota. -Richard

I imagine today being a little tough for you. Lovely warm poem for your mom. I like the idea of her making heaven pretty. My mother was a seamstress, and did interior design (I made her a mom on mothers day) I imagine, if she made it there, she'd be doing the same. ;), xomo

Interesting that our Mothers were good in the same areas! Wow, I had just written that to Tom C about Mom.. Yes, an emotional day. Mom was a fighter, like me. We never took NO for an answer, but as a great challenge! And you! Born on Mother's Day...really awesome. Thanks for a beautiful share. You made my day! Panagiota xxoo
