Happy Birthday

I know that love’s alive, I know it lives in there.
Sorrow behind caring eyes, embers hidden by sunny glare.
I know it feels and feels so very deep. All the veins deliver life but rapids form around the heart you keep.
I see the scars of years, all the mileage of being worn. The lines of age don’t smudge the truth of the soul.
I see deep into your eyes, past the shine that most will know. I see the cracks of ice and the dark holes that they call home.
I catch you looking at me and sometimes I don’t even know. Which one is looking, there’s so many hovering around your soul.
Love like fresh air we can breathe. Love that then pops and explodes. Fireworks of colour and light. Your love burns and brightens my life.
Happy birthday to the one I love and all the others living in there behind your eyes.
