Happiness Gathering In His Eyes

Grape and blueberry jam
Smearing across the boy's
brown freckled strawberry face
puckering his lips together
giving his mother
a great big juicy
delicious
Happy Mother's Day kiss
then, lost for words,
happiness gathering
in his eyes
wiping off
his mouth
on his mother's
best red blouse
