Happiness Eludes You
When you are lonely, happiness eludes you—
overcome by depression and self-pity.
You want to fit in, but know not what to do;
you're all alone in an uncaring city.
and you miss the friends you had to leave behind,
aware that, like treasures, friends are hard to find.
The emptiness in your heart grows every day,
and yet, hope assures you, those feelings won't stay.
