Handshake

A handshake's no longer in style And fist bumps just lasted a while But at a first meeting There should be a greeting Perhaps one that's more than a smile. Yet some folks still offer a hand, Though if they are taking a stand, Their grasp should be strong Like their palm does belong And it didn't, by accident, land. With a person whose handshake is limp, You might think you're confronting a wimp So it's best not to shake 'Cause you might, by mistake, Form impressions on which you might skimp.

I agree wholeheartedly with Gershon ilene. You should get involved publicly, be it newspaper, magazine, or a morning talk show segment. You write a poem a day anyway. You can cut a slice of the day with the best of them. <3

I've had times when a Manly Man had shaken my hand and I could barely get my hand in there before he squeezed it like a damp dishrag. That kinda speaks to things don't it ilene. ;) <3 :)

Nicely done, but after reading how many people do not wash their hands after going to the toilet, I much prefer the Asian bow! Aloha! Rico

Ilene, this reads like a very, very good advice column... Hey, maybe a major news organ should run your poems side-by-side with 'Ask Abby' type social etiquette columns. It's an idea. (Take a picture of it; I don't have too many new ideas these days. LOL.) Best wishes, gw
