Halo

Lost, cold, alone,
Even my shadow,
Has turned its back on me,
Walked on the road to nowhere,
Death and Hades, like vultures,
Stood by, watched keenly,
Waited patiently, anxiously,
For my flesh to turn to dust.

Afraid, burning, tormented, insanity,
Even my soul,
Had given up the ghost and committed suicide,
Bathed in pain, eternal darkness,
Demons and Warlocks, like an audience,
Sat down watched closely,
Listened for my screams and shrieks,
For their comic relief.

Amazed, reborn, resurrected,
Even my spirit,
Has come alive with joy,
beyond chance, beyond paranormal,
Christ Jesus like no other,
Descended, died and ascended,
Felt the pain of death,
For a halo on my head.

Wow! Your journey from total despair to new life is powerful. I found the line "even my shadow has turned its back on me" incredibly revealing. Great poem. God Bless. Kim
