Halloween Stalker

While trick or treating in my black cat disguise I had an eerie feeling that I was being followed by a scary Jack-O-Lantern with glowing red eyes His pumpkin head had been cleverly hollowed He was ten steps behind me on every street My heartbeat accelerated. I panicked in fright Boldly, he ensued without trying to be discreet! I had to escape this stalker on Halloween night I hid among dense bushes of old run down house hoping he'd continue walking and leave me alone I held my breath, trying to be as quiet as a mouse when a whirring noise erupted from my cell phone A hand covered my mouth til I thought I'd smother. Then he said, "It's just me...Jack. Your big brother!" October 12, 2020 Halloween Fright ~ Sponsor: Carolyn Devonshire

lol Carolyn. I wasn't sure where to take it and was running out of lines to give it a dismal ending. Thank you for the honor of placing in your contest.

Oh!! What a brat that Jack! That's something my big brother, Michael, would have done.. lol! Scary but fantastic, Jenna. The sinister intrigue of your poem captivated my imagination and I loved the surprise twist at the end. Best wishes for a win.. ~Susan

Mine, too! Thanks for liking this one so much, Susan. It was one of those that didn't go in the direction I had intended it to go.

Thank you, Tania. She was frightened enough by that stalker, so I allowed her to stay intact. lol

Phew, sigh of relief Jenna. I love humourous verse, although in reality it wouldn't be funny if Jason was lurking about in his scary mask. Hope your week going well. Tom

Good day to you, Tom. My week is super fine so far, and my hope is that yours is, too. Thanks for the visit. I wasn't in the mood for a Halloween murder, or I guess I could've just had that creep steal her candy. lol I just write what comes to mind.
