Halloween Lives
Halloween is different this year
Cities and towns turn into actual ghost towns
No parties to show off the costume
You spent months working on
To show off to your friends.
No porch lights will be lit
To guide the eager children
Decked out in their cute costumes
To their sugary treasures
That rest in cauldrons
For them to grab as many as they please.
No Halloween parades
No Halloween Festivals
It’s not even safe
To see a Halloween Movie
In a Movie Theater.
But not all hope is lost
For even if we can’t celebrate
Like we normally do like every year
We find ways to keep the spirit
Of Halloween alive in all of us.
Watching Halloween Movies with loved ones
With a barrel of popcorn and sweets
Making Halloween Treasure Baskets
To give to the little ones.
Candy chutes to safely deliver candy
To the brave trick or treaters
While applying social distance
Wearing symmetrical masks to match their costumes.
Zoom Halloween Parties are a clever way
To throw a party for your guests
Show off your costume and bust a move
As you take turns on the Halloween Remix Playlist.
Halloween may look different this year
But we must not let the invisible monster
That haunts our world take away
The joy and wonder of the holiday.
For the spirit of Halloween
The magic of this spooky holiday
Can never be taken away from us
For it lives in our very souls.
