Halloween
Away in the night on All Hallow Eve
we thought we saw the shadow of a thief.
Away in the night I saw a black cat
being some trouble, being a brat.
Away in the dark, there flew a witch
flying away on her long broom stick.
Away in the dark there was a skull
looking very much like a deathly doll.
Did you hear the sound of a skeleton?
I thought I heard the sound of a gun.
Did you hear the chink of bones?
Or was it a skeleton making groans?
Did you see the white flight ghost?
Was it being entertaining, being a good host?
Away in the dark I heard a scrape.
The sound of the great Halloween escape.
Away in the dark stood a glowing pumpkin
showing for all its big toothy grin.
Away in the night that haunts us still
we felt a very cold October chill.
Away in the night of Halloween
we really needed to have a scream.
