Halloween
Halloween
2013
faceless pumpkins, eerie eyes
witchless brooms that no one flies
spider webs not yet spun
trick or treaters yet to come
sounds of skeleton like branches
wind whirl tone that so entrances
tiny shapes of ghosts and goblins
as they move together wobblin’
in the hours when they play
twixt start of night and end of day
shadow creatures, wolf-like howls
mutterings of candied jowls
bargaining for gifts received
from those so easily deceived
by urchins who from dungeons crept
and gorged themselves before they slept.
