Hallelujah

How does a dizzy ashen-faced girl find herself crying on the floor of the church bathroom every Sunday? Allow me, Low blood sugar caused by an eight-hour fast plus Low self-esteem built upon years of abuse, Equals an irrational but strong fear that she's possessed. Little tears scorch her skin, Unbearably hot, holy fire. Jumping at the touch of holy water, psychosomatic burn. Arching her back against the cold tile as she prays for mercy in her swirling twisting head,
"Help me, oh lord, Help me."
