Half a Moon and Still Exploring
ran over the sunny side
where water once rested
when it wasn’t gray
or dusty or rocky
and I kicked the shadows.
Tomorrow I want to run
around the whole orb
twice for fun
and then fly home
on glitter golden wings.
Then, I’ll hop
over the petunias
by my leaning mailbox,
charge through
my front door
and shout out
“Done!”
I will conquer the moon,
here.
