Half a Kilo of Care
In all our first meetings of the day
she greets with deeper intent
gazing religiously into my eyes as I indulge.
When tiredness betrays my countenance
without request, she renders
a service of a good shoulder massage.
When I’m almost getting sad
she holds my hand tightly
for both palms to intimately share
her cool moisturizing tenderness.
When duties are paused for a break
she comes to me to discuss serious matters
but makes herself playfully comfortable.
She’s very obedient and quick to act
whenever I’m in a place of need
making my place of work more comfortable than home.
My heart becomes convinced and consented
for the expression of a deeper level of intimacy
but surprisingly, a bed warmer is all that she needs.
