Great job with conveying the emotion albeit a dark one. -Jeremy

wow Jack, you are doing GREAT living past your goal. You set the bar low but I can understand why . You have been many years without your dad. That is so sad.

He was a good man, and I value his legacy. I'll assure you though that longevity mile-markers have been, and still are, a part of my life. For example, assuming nothing awful happens in the next 18 months, I will be the longest living male in my family for at least two generations, including my grandfather and his nine brothers.

Nicely done on this one, my friend. How old was he, do you mind my asking?

He died in 1957 at age 39. One of my early life's goals was to live to be 40. I made it, with almost three decades to spare. Thanks for asking... Jack

The sorrow is well captured in this. I am sorry for the reasons this was written... but nonetheless it's good to reflect on these things. To put it on paper, that way you can always come back to it... almost like a friend.

Thank you for commenting. I honestly don't know if he enjoyed poetry. He died when I was quite young. Jack
