Notes About The Poem

Haaaaa

Haaaaa

(A sound made when you exhale from very deep…
Purposefully, completely, and intentionally.)
The best friend began,
the husband continued,
and souls… parted.

You spoke very softly, a whisper.
I wanted to hear every word, so I moved closer.
How can I make this easier?
How can I put a world of thoughts, in to a moment…
or two?

It is not fair, what happened to you and I.
We have been cheated. A life time passed us by.
We lived without knowing there was a chance…
a real possibility to be happy?
How sweet the memory of every moment,
I have spent in your company.
How my heart yearns to repeat every celebration.
How my soul wants to dance with you in heaven…

My best friend, I let you go, as I have no choice.
Yet, you have profoundly and completely made my life better.
It has been made whole by your presence, and the lack of it…
will be hard to deal with on levels I have yet to understand.

I thank the Lord, “He” gave me you. I wish that I had listened to him more.
He may have led me sooner … to your door.
I am too hard headed.
You always knew that.

Well said, James. Metaphysically, the exhalation is the manifestation of the world with all its tops and flops, including love) Haaaaa. Sounds good. Well penned, Ann. It's nice to read you again after a long break.
