Gunshots In My Neighborhood
Kansas City is over her head with joy
First the Royals won the World Series
Now the Chiefs have conquered the Super Bowl.
We are comparing stories.
What we were eating.
How hard we were yelling.
How long we heard fireworks on Sunday.
One twenty-six a.m. I told them with pure happiness.
That's nothing one of our favorite female busdrivers said.
In my neighborhood we can't afford fireworks.
I heard automatic rifles going off until two-thirty-two a.m.
She obviously won the one-upmanship contest.
