Guns of War

Have you noticed When kiddies play They play with guns of war They learn from us What seems to be Really quite natural I'm sure The future of Our planet lies In the hands of every child Let's teach each soul And guide them through The perils with a smile A positive take On life it seems Helps reach that distant goal We don't need tools Of war from now on Just peace in every soul So treasure our kids And nurture them To change the times ahead And make this place Much better than The years of fear and dread It can be done If all of us Just listen to our hearts Let's forge a path With kiddie's help And make a brand new start!

Jack, I love this poem (FAV). Nicely written, I enjoyed the rhyme pattern. The 4th stance is my favorite. Blessings ~ Debra

Jack, your first stanza seems to say it all. Yes, we teach them war, I suspect, before we teach them love and brotherhood. I remember playing "Cowboys and Indians" when I was a little kid. Of course, we were always the cowboys...never the Indians, for they were the bad ones. Where did we get that idea????

From us my good man! Sure tells us much doesn't it? Humans are a combative bunch aren't we... why? Maybe we did start it with the cowboys and Indians... the good guys and the bad! Have a peaceful day my friend!

Better they play with paper and pens rather than let them think guns are toys. Tom
