Gun Addicts Despair

Gun addicts sad and looking glum
No lives were lost to guns today -
No tallies to add to their sums,
No reaper swaths with lives to pay.

                       A somber day - a losing streak,
Gun addicts dressed in mourning black -
                       Exchanging messages so bleak
                       And cursing this unseen setback.

                       Death didn't take a holiday
But, bullets took a day-long pass
While gun addicts just pined away
And hoped this delay wouldn't last.

Yes, longing when the good old days
Brought suffering at their behest -
Gun addicts would soon hope to raise
The flag of mayhem, now at rest.

Ah well, a time to hoard a store
Of guns and bullets for the fray -
As gun addicts prepare once more
                       To shatter lives another day.

                                    --------------

Obsession: Abettors:

The pervasive "need" When lawmakers pass
for firearms demonstrates Third permissive gun laws do they
World mentality. abet homicide?
