Grumpy Old Man

I swallow my hatred and reach into my bag of fake smiles My facade grows weaker each day A cantankerous old man pretending to be a person My old eyes only see in gray I wear misery like a favorite coat Cursing the weather and the news My old back reminds me that standing is no good My life's theme music is the blues Change your attitude, she says Your outlook really sucks See the glass as half full I think my personality is the crux I sigh softly and look out at the cloudy day I put on my plastic smile again And daydream my day away
