Growing Pains
Empty heads and empty hearts
Lonely beds and falling hard
Falling down in such a way
That makes the low a lovely place
A lovely place or a dreaded floor?
This is a race and nothing more
He’s quickly patching up what’s left
While I’m begging to lay it to rest
My hands are cold and blue
Frozen from the hold I no longer have for you
I’m letting go in the worst possible way
“I’m not in love with you” is what I said today
More days will come, and more will go
You’re feeling numb and I’m feeling low
My feet are already out the door
I’m standing here waiting, but what for?
This is not love that grows, this is pain
I don’t want to go, but I cannot stay
Please forgive me for saying goodbye
We were the wrong people at the wrong time
Leave me here and let it be
I’m setting you free only to release me
