Growing Old, Gorgeously

The beauty of aging for a woman or man, Is to gaze back over the sparkling, valley of decades with such joy and achievement, no youth ever can. Oh, to be sure, many will have trophies and medals for winning sports games. But they have not raised and stood by families who were taught integrity and how to win at life's game. In this society, that drools with glee at Emojis, texts and technology, You had your children in good schools learning English, the Bible and honoring God on their knees. So when you see an elder with a cane trying to open a door, Or an elderly in a wheelchair struggling to go up a ramp. Don't smirk nor feel better than they, for that may, indeed, be you one day! They live quiet lives and do not seek glory. That's for the young busily showcasing their own life's story. Many arrogant, in love with themselves. With or with no family, just in adoration of themselves. We, poets, have a chance to make this world a better place. This is no place to stab each other in a glory race! We have the blessed freedom to write on any subject we choose. May we be blessed to inspire and encourage all with beauty, and with honor and courage to infuse. February 28, 2020 3:00pm PST

Panagiota your truly inspirational words of wisdom are so joyous to read on this Sunday morn. Such a shame the young are often completely oblivious to the older generation, who have much to teach and share. For they will be old one day and realise for themselves how much they missed by not looking up whilst in their own little world! Your poetry never ceases to amaze me Panagiota - never doubt yourself, you have a wonderful gift you share with us all. Thanks my friend, kind thoughts Ann xx

Golly, Ann! Nice to hear from you. I soupmailed you about a week ago with no response and was quite worried!! Here you are in all your glory! Hurrah.! Oh, I do doubt myself, Ann. I am not one who gets a bang out of impressing anyone. If I can only be fully authentic in a poem, as I see you are, that's worth more than a trophy. The young have no clue how fast the years pass(such arrogant hooligans!) I was one, too. Life bangs us on the head with loss and illness. But, it is a wonderful life. Rainbow Wishes and a Prism of Love, Panagiota and ^~^

You said a LOT with this one, Panagiota. The elderly have EXPERIENCE and that should be revered by the young'uns.

Good point, Andrea! Some have incredible life stories but the young, have their heads glues to the Internet and are missing out on heroism and heroic tales. Each day, we all get older without realizing it. Thank you for visiting. Panagiota xx

Hello Panagiota … very, very important views you have written in this lovely verse Panagiota. The true heroes rarely get recognized because their sacrifices are deemed as day to day living so have no importance for a headline seeking reporter - thank you Panagiota - Lindsay

Greetings,Lindsay! The media...enough. Humanity is quite marvelous but they will never let us realize out greatness! They are boogeyman out to forecast evil and the end of the world. I wish there were no media. Fed up with their dire B.S. predictions..thanks for commenting Panagiota xxx

I enjoyed this one Panagiota, spoken by someone who has wisdom, kids today have it so easy, I remember our first house when we got married, in the hard winters ice used to form on the windows, inside. I've worked hard for what I've got and now taking it easier, still find not enough hours in the day. Tom

Oh, Tom! I, too, remember frost on the windows!! I loved it Because we would write the alphabet on them or draw pictures.i mean I was very small. The apartment was large but we had no storm windows. I can tell you are a hard worker by your support of many here. And the superb writings you post. Appreciate your viewpoint. Panagiota xx
