Grinning Creature

A confession from the sunlight
Is just a part of the darkness that waits
I will breathe when it comes out
As I reach for the moon that holds sway

I truly love my deception
I love this creature that needs to arise
Every feast brings it closer
Every hunger gives sight to its eyes

Only ice to remember
The dying child that was given more pain
But then some light when he found this
He held the stars and I laughed at the stains

Quietly I’ve awoken
Never here, but I’m always inside
Silently you have noticed
I am the heart that still wished you had died

Between my love and lack of feeling
I do not care which extreme points the way
Between a life and my own death
It does not matter as long as I laugh and play
