Grief in Winter

How I long to see the narcissus blooming once again So many months away, winter officially not here Spring would help my grief and down mood lift, help me make it 'til then Down where wisteria clusters hang from pines and lavender blooms Their scent wafts in warm spring air, while their vines squeeze around trees While their beauty competes with unfurling tender green leaves Working through grief is not easy, maybe spring will help heal Grief could consume but I know it comes in clusters unexpected When spring comes, daffodils' yellow golden blooms will renew Early on while winter lingers star magnolia will bloom Hope will spring forth, hope of beauty, warmth and healing of my spirit Death slipped in as winter approached, spring heals with fire of hope

God bless you as you walk out this grief hoping for the renewal of Spring. For me, Spring brings sadness - Mom died in April a few years back. Still, for me there is hope in Sunflowers..one I received from the granddaughters at funeral. May God comfort you and may the beauty in each day cause you to smile. Hugs. Congrats on POTD!

Yes, it is sad that your mom died in spring but those warming days leading up to April should be a renewal for you. It is nice that she chose such a nice time of the year to leave this world to go on to being fully alive. I know you miss her and always will. Thanks for the nice review and congrats. Sara K

Yes, even though Christians have the faith that our loved one's spirit has gone on to heaven. We still have to live with their loss on this earth. Some of my children and I break down every time we talk. Thank you for the prayers. Sara K

Yes, ' grief comes in clusters unexpected. ' Your thoughts caress softly around me and my heart. Time heals, and this is true, but I think it takes ' time ' to heal. Sending healing hugs your way, Sara. I see your words have been selected as Poem of the Day. My best to you, my dear friend. ~ Brandy

Brandy, I agree with you, it takes time to heal. I still have good memories of my parents but sometimes grief hits me when I least expect it and they have been gone from this earth now for over 25 years. I appreciate the kind words and hugs. Sara K
