Green Shadows
jealousy’s a strange thing isn’t it
you’re fine one minute then bam
you see someone with what you think you need
and suddenly it’s there sitting heavy in your chest
you tell yourself it’s no big deal
it’s stupid even but still it creeps
like a shadow you can’t outrun or heal
maybe it’s the way they walk
or how their voice carries like they belong
maybe it’s their stupid confidence
or the way everyone listens all along
and you hate it don’t you
hate how it twists you, makes you small
angry at nothing, at all
but what’s the point of it really
it doesn’t change a thing
it sits there eating you alive
until you’re too tired to care about anything
