Green and Yellow Cat

Bleak, totally bleak said the man with the tall round hat
Then we looked and saw a large green and yellow cat
Slowly stealing through the tall brown lemon grass
Come on, come on, said Clarissa quite aghast

Then Moz the owl came silently swooping through the glen
Better things lay just ahead, the best that’s ever been
The owl flew on swiftly swerving disappearing in the mist
What’s that, the man said, I don’t know; did you get the gist?
Man in hat, he didn’t hear but seemed to walk along in fear
How much further must we go; are we getting near?

Clarissa leaped across the stream onto the spongy moss
Must we all keep running on, it all seems such a loss?
And where has gone that crazy cat, I don’t see him anymore?
I think he took a nap, I said; what are we looking for?
Cat came back to purr with smiles and fluffy fur
He’d been on ahead to look and see if the way was sure

It’s bleak, I’m sure, said the man with the tall round hat
Not bleak at all, you’ve got it wrong said the green and yellow cat
Let’s all sit down to rest a bit and hear what the cat shall tell
It’s possible he has good news and that it might go well
The best things come from dreams we share, better than our past
We should always dream big dreams for one day they may appear at last
The cat said, up ‘round the bend you will find your good dreams come true
Yes, it’s marvelous, the dreams for me and dreams for you
There’s a city up ahead like none you’ve ever seen
When you see it you will know that life is the best it’s ever been

The cat ran on and disappeared
When he knew the city neared
A steeper path, a narrow way
They could see it now in the light of day
The way was narrow now and made the journey tough
Will we have the strength to climb the trail, will we have enough?

Hear that song that's carried on the wind
It is coming from the city just ‘round the bend
Red and yellow bird flew down to say hello
Are you coming to the city, can I know?
Yes, we’ve been running through the night
Trying to find the way to better where everything is right
But we didn’t know if it was true
That dreams could come to pass did you?

In the light we joined as one, unsure and walking carefully
The city gate lay ‘round the bend, a gate right through a monster tree
Songs and voices filled the air
With happy people everywhere

Green and yellow cat was waiting, grinning at the gate
He was glad that we had made it, we were not too late
There waits a special city for us all
If we will only dream and hear the call
