Greed

The sting of betrayal, a wound deep inside,
Friends turned to foes, nowhere left to hide.

They steal my trust, a precious, fragile thing,
Only their own gain, the bitter fruit they bring.

"How will I get over on you?" their constant refrain,
A selfish ambition, driving them insane.

No thought for others, only their own greed,
A twisted desire, a poisonous seed.

But I will rise above, find strength within,
Heal the broken heart, let compassion begin.

Forgiveness may come, but trust will remain at a distance
A lesson learned, a bitter, painful sting.
