Great Sadness
(“Dragon’s Eye”, 2024, original encaustic)
Great sadness weighs one down
From the inside,
A heart heavy with the loss
Of great expectation,
An oppressive weight that only lifts
When one lets go.
Great sadness follows what was once
Great love and joy,
Now past, held tightly still
In great attachment.
