Graveyard of Regret
My yesterdays soon fade into the past
Where hurts and grief become interred below
Like poisoned seeds so casually cast
They spread their roots within the mind and grow
And new days bloom from seedlings of the last
Yet here within this graveyard of decay
Where healing rains could fall and sun would shine
I walk through barren fields shadowed in gray
And curse the bitter fruit upon the vine
Yet keep the buried past alive today
No! Purge regrets that haunt my memory
Whose bony fingers scratch upon my heart
That whisper poisoned lies so honestly
Release them into words, in song or art
So they will find no place to live in me!
