Graveling Potatoes

There were potatoes planted deep
In the early cold sping
So soon that a frost still could come
And nip the tender green

Unharmed by a sudden frost's bite
They grow to unusual height
Then the blossoms faded fast
Signaling harvest rites

You probably know that the old word for digging up potatoes was "helling," which my have led certain translator of the Bible to render Hades (original Gree) as Hell.
