Gratitude For Recent Food

It took some five millennia
Ahead of Plymouth Rock
For Whites to reach America
And discover unknown crops
Where the land’s amaizing corn
Sustained exploring guys
With green-bean pods galore
And the pineapple surprise;
Who also would have dined
On red tomato fruit,
The avocado find,
And sweet-potato root.
Meantime, peppers, yonder,
Created a sensation
As potatoes sated hunger
In needy populations.
Topping that …. vanilla
And the strawberry gem
Plus chocolate, the thriller
— From Americas, stem:
Plus peanuts in pods
Pecans and cashews . . .
     Thus, let us thank G-d
     For great recent foods!

Yes, it's possible the nightshades are not good for my arthritis. I think it depends on the person. DARK chocolate is so good for us!

Hannah, my fellow FOODIE. I too have written poems like this going on and on about certain ones I love! This was informative and well written. Love your wit and humor! So sad that a lot of these foods are the worst ones for weight gain.

More info.: Paradoxically, Dr. Gundry, a nutrition "trailblazer", rails against 'nightshade' foods -- tomatoes, peppers, potatoes, and eggplant; and HAILS chocolate. (Against all wholegrains, too). Thanks for your compliment!

I can't even imagine the expressive effort it must have taken to write such a convincing poem--Kudos for the original and creative theme!

Thanks for the 'feed'back. Many people are oblivious that our generation is gifted with food pleasures in addition to electronics and digital privileges.

Usually, I belittle my poems, and rightfully. Not with this one; I like it,too.

You have a short attention span. Did you read the whole thing?! That would be a big compliment.
