Gratitude

With words of gentle beauty,
your heart a lightning rod,
you grace us with your poems
that portray the face of God.

You sustain your themes so poignantly
ne'er straying from your track,
you always plumb the core of things,
of candor there's no lack;

and you're a friend to loneliness
to anger and despair, yet
you always find redemption
in a plea or in a prayer.

My dear your prayers are answered
and your dreams are coming true;
how could I be so lucky
to have found a girl like you?
