Gratitude
The sun borrows warmth from you
The birds sing sweetly and say glory to you
I’m just a pilgrim seeking your love as a blessing
Your smile is my magic potion, and you are my divine calling
Your thought inspires me to live, even in the depths of sorrow
I gather the grains of happiness and love I try to borrow
From your soothing touch and gentle words of encouragement
You are the elixir that I have always looked for, you are my strength
Even when joy was a distant dream and I was in a negative spiral
I had vivid dreams of you and stories of those I can tell
I loved you even though you weren’t in my thoughts then
I know for the scared child in me, you were the mother hen
You have let me be me, through my life’s transition
You have made me feel proud of my deeds, my every action
You have sowed in me the seeds of love, destined to flourish and bloom
With you in my life, my love, there will always be joy, never gloom
