Granny's Recipes

From fruit scones, to meat pie, Apple crumble and coffee cake, Sunday tea was amazing, Because, my Granny sure could bake. Secret ingredients, she wouldn't divulge, Passed down from years gone by, When I look back on those days, It brings a tear to my eye. From butterfly buns, to Victoria sponge, A moist fruit loaf, filled with flavour, Jam tarts and gingerbread men, For the kids to savour. Sausage rolls and a birthday cake, Made for a special party tea, Cheese and onion pie a fresh baked loaf, All made especially for family. Granny's recipes are the best recipes, Made of all things nice, A Granny's love as the main ingredient, To add that extra bit of allspice.

Any memory about food and Granny has got to be the best. My mom's mother used to put a teaspoon of bacon grease in just about everything she cooked. She made the best fried pies I've ever eaten and I miss her wonderful sense of humor. Great poem Kay. It flooded me with memories:)

Thank you for your kind words once again, Daniel. Like you said, food and Granny memories are the best. My Mum's Mum, wasn't the best cook but she had a wicked sense of humour. However, the poem is about my Dad's Mum, her cooking was amazing. The inspiration came from a friend who baked a coffee cake, from one of his Grandmother's recipes. Best Wishes :)

Oh Jan, I am so sorry for making you emotional, it wasn't my intention xxx A friend inspired this, he found an old recipe for coffee cake, that belonged to his Grandmother. It looked delicious when he made it and that's where the idea came from. My Grandmother was an excellent cook, I just went from there. Big HUGS xx
