grandpas new toy

grandpa was excited about his new toy
he brought us to his den, he was bursting with joy
what is it? We asked him, for none of us knew
he laughed until he was crying, but he was not blue

do you have an inkling? He queried, hoping we did.
we guessed all kinds of things, but its function was hid.
he got out a record and asked if we knew what it was
we had no idea at all – not even our smart cousin, Cuz.

he lifted a lever on the machine and put the disc in quick.
you have to make sure there is no dust, he told my brother Dick.
music started playing and grandpa began dancing with a jerk.
we grandkids started laughing; we can do this too, but with a lot less work.
