Grandmother

She often talked to me of life Her wisdom she shared so willingly, From childhood through teenage years and then to be a wife I learned from her just who she was and how she came to be. She came gladly to me, an empty place to fill When family times were tough, Father was away all day, working to pay bills The security she easily gave, the loved she shared. Now she is gone, I miss the days When we talked and laughed together, My mind knew she has to go, my heart begged her to stay The parts of herself she gave to me, will be with me forever.
