Grandma`s Old Apron

Grandma`s apron is tattered and worn
It was sewed by her mother before she was born.
In her apron she carefully gathers the eggs
That her hens had laid.
She washes the dishes and scrubs the floor
yells at her kids " wipe your feet at the door."
She uses her apron to dry her hands
putting away pots and pans.
She takes a needle from her apron top
She sits down at the table darning holes in socks.
A day and time are all done
A new day and era has begun.
took the apron off the hook
putting it on I begin to cook.
I can see grandma`s reflection in me
her beautiful apron that was handed down to me.
