Grandma Rocking

Needed at least one hug today
Validation needed in something you might say
God help my grandson be okay
Reach down and heal his broken spirit if you may

Agony being felt by me
Longing to hold him on my knee
But the time is gone it can no longer be
How can I help him recover to be able to see

(This was written a long time ago...It is about my grandson who lives with me and has Huntington's Disease...He is 22 now and was told that he has the illnes at age l8 years old.HD is an inherited illnes that is caused by an abnormal repeat on a gene called the CAG gene..It is the G part of the gene that doesn't work correctly..It has to do with a protein that the body needs but for some reason the abnormal gene prevents the body from using this gene and this causes the brain to die prematurely..)

Hi just me again, I just read what Doris said in her comment about your last line, yes, it needs breaks., it goes on forever, and ever. I did not know the system would even do this, it sure is strange.. still love the poem... love constance

I too, know this devasting disease, Huntington's, as a nurse Recently, I have a patient who is a young man, who was a firefighter, saved lifes, a decorated hero, so oh yes, I have seen the damage it causes, the life's it destroys. My heart breaks for you and your grandson. It is truly sad. You captured that sadness, so well in your poem.. love constance.

Sara, it's terrible to know that you can do nothing, especially if you are far from him. I feel your love for him in this poem. I hope one day that cures for all these awful diseases will be discovered. Luv,andrea

Oh, Sara...I know of this terrible disease, and I know how devastating it would be to hear such a horrible diagnosis. I am so very sorry to hear it is something your family is dealing with. I will pray for you, and especially for him, that you have inner strength to deal with this unfortunate illness. God Bless. .. Carrie

Sara, this is so touching. I can feel your love in these lines and your concern for him. I could feel your desire to hold him on your knee and give all the love from your heart. This was a very beautiful write and shows the love in your heart and the concern in your mind.
