Grace and Greed - a Love Story

forgive his sins the angel begged
watching a mortal upon his knees,
she knelt apon a silver edge
of a cloud at the lords feet,
she looked up at her father and said,
lord help him, damnit please,
forgive what ever wrong he has done,
father please for me.

the angel bowed her head and prayed
for sake of mortal man
the lord kept her at bay,
so that she wouldnt take his hand
she shed a tear, a rain drop fell,
and landed on his face
they shared a tear of salt and of saddness and grace

the angel stayed in wait for years
unable to go to his side
he lived his life with pain and joy
never knowing of her wait for him,l and the end of his life
never knowing that she was the one who watched by lords feet
to keep him safe as he wandered the street

by years that gone she felt a longing within her heart
and yet she promised that she would wait
until from the world he would depart
until the day he passed the pearly white gates
she would keep him within the lords grace
