GOOSE ON THE LOOSE

The honk made me jump
as I sideswiped a lump
that squished on the side
of the walk. “Dump your garbage in the dumpster”,
I called to my neighbor,
it does not take that
much more time and labor!”
Ned waved his finger
at me on my walk.
I was not in a mood
to stop, visit and talk.
The goose had flown on
and turned around. He
was headed back toward me,
close to the ground.
When almost in my face
he banked right and headed
ahead, to my delight.
With swoop and swerve
he took aim at Ned
and delivered a load
to the top of his head.
With double honk that
sounded like laughter,
he U turned and now
it was me he was after.
There was no place to hide
and no time to think.
Gliding close to my head
he delivered a wink!
