Goodbye Daddy
She knelt down by his tombstone
To say some more goodbyes
And prayed a simple prayer
As tears fell from her eyes
She said “daddy, I still miss you
And all the fun we had
I know you wont be coming back
And daddy this makes me sad
But all in all daddy
We did have a wonderful time
I remember helping you make that clock
And yes it still chimes
I know you can’t hear me
The preacher said you are dead
But it makes me feel better
Knowing the good life we led
But daddy, you know something?
I still miss you and that’s no lie
Although you can’t hear me
Being here soothes me when I cry
I guess I’d better say goodbye
Mommy’s waiting to chat a spell
I’m just rolling all my wishes to you
In this little nutshell
I’m going off to college next week
But don’t worry, I’ll still chat with you
People might think I’m crazy you know
But it’s something I’m still gonna do
So long you wonderful daddy
I’m glad I got this off my chest
Now you just take a long, long nap
And make sure you get plenty of rest
